Abstract
Abstract Research pertaining to sujective social indicators deals with people's feelings about their external circumstances of living. This subjective information completes the picture depicted by objective social indicators research. Both subjective and objective social indicators are required by policy makers as inputs for social policy formulation. The present study is concerned with people's preferences for the various domains which contribute to a general feeling of happiness - a subject not studied enough in the research on subjective indicators. The relative importance attributed to various domains which contribute to a happy life and the universality and stability of the ranking were studied on three groups of students. The results were compared with findings obtained in the United States. Good health, family life, and peace of mind were considered the most important domains.
