Abstract
International conference on Sustainable Coastal ManagementSUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCE OF COASTAL MANAGEMENT SRCM 2020 (https://www.its.ac.id/drpm/srcm/) INTRODUCTION This conference takes the general theme of Sustainability and Resilience of Coastal Management considering that Indonesia is an archipelago country, and most of the human settlement and activity are located in the coastal areas. Regarding current conditions, there has been a lot of deterioration in environmental quality in this coastal area, such as marine pollution due to marine litter and wastewater discharge, eutrophication in the water body, especially rivers, which then flow into coastal areas. Besides, the coastal area is the most vulnerable because of the effect of climate change. Ecosystem damage also occurs around coastal areas. Social life is also a problem in this location, especially with the COVID19 pandemic, which will significantly impact the livelihoods.Several efforts are needed to develop this important area. Research regarding the clean environment, green marine technology, resilience for climate change including adaptation and mitigation, are socially and economically important to manage this vulnerable area. It is also essential to develop integrating policies and management to support infrastructure and human development in coastal areas. OBJECTIVE SRCM 2020 is an international forum for disseminating the latest research and innovation of selected topics from researchers, practitioners, and academics. At the same time, this conference also offers an opportunity for experts in related fields to network. Through this event, various institutions can promote educational, research, and development activities they accomplished. CONFERENCE DATE AND PLATFORM This international conference took place on November 30, 2020. It was conducted fully online using Zoom Webinar. The link to join the webinar was sent to the registrant two weeks prior to the event via email. This event was designed to be held virtually due to the travel restrictions and offline gathering prohibition implemented by Indonesian Government. Since there was a high uncertainty on when the restriction end, Institute Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, encouragedthat all the events to be converted to virtual/online event instead of postponing them. By not postponing the events, especially SRCM 2020, ITS could perform its role as a leading university in Indonesia especially in the field of marine technology as this event was meant for the place where the current progress in this field was shared. By doing so ITS could also maintain the ongoing collaboration and keep strengthening its networks.List of Participants, Sessions, Organizers, Documentation, Scientific Committee, Images are available in this pdf.
