Abstract

EMBRIO (Enhancing Marine Biodiversity Research in Indonesia) is a network initiative initiated by the Vice-Rector for Research & Collaboration, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Indonesia, to promote scientific innovation based on marine biodiversity resources and to strengthen preventive measures against biodiversity loss in marine life. EMBRIO was founded in 2013, aiming to grow to strengthen networks throughout Indonesia with international strategic partners and to become a center of excellence in Indonesia’s marine biodiversity research. The Faculty of Fisheries & Marine Sciences, IPB University coordinates the EMBRIO initiative. The International Seminar on Marine Biodiversity, Utilization, Conservation, and Management (MarBioUtiCoM) is one of the international scientific events initiated by EMBRIO IPB University and was held on 8th-9th August 2022. This seminar was a manifestation of EMBRIO’s Mission to understand, protect, rehabilitate and make sustainable use of Indonesia’s marine biodiversity for human welfare.MarBioUtiCoM 2022 was conducted online in the Zoom Cloud Meetings application. This activity was a collaboration between EMBRIO IPB University with International Partnerships, such as the Maizuru Fisheries Research Station, Kyoto University-Japan; Tohoku University-Japan; and National Partnerships, such as BRSDM-KP Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP); BIONESIA (Indonesian Biodiversity); Indonesian Ichthyological Society (MII); Indonesian Aquatic Products Processing Society (MPHPI); and Center for the Study of Coastal and Ocean Resources (PKSPL)-LPPM IPB University. The MarBioUtiCoM 2022 was held with the theme “Bolstering the Health of Our Ocean and Ensuring the Sustainable Use of Marine Bioresources”. The keynote speaker was Ir.
