Preface

Abstract

We are pleased to introduce the Proceedings of The III International (XVI Regional) Scientific Conference “Technogenic Systems and Environmental Risk” (TSER 2020) organized by Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and held on May 21-22, 2020.The scientific conference “Technogenic Systems and Environmental Risk” is held annually from 2004 to 2018. The main participants are students, graduate students and young scientists, including representatives of research institutes, universities, scientific and industrial associations and enterprizes. Since 2017, the meeting has officially been recognized as an international conference.This scientific meeting addresses current scientific problems related to the study of man-made factors in the human environment, the evaluation of the effect of these factors on humans and natural systems, ensuring the ecological safety of the biosphere. The meeting contributes to raising the level of knowledge of young scientists and teachers, sharing experience in conducting research and teaching activities, establishing links between organizations, regions and countries.Over 180 participants registered to take part in TSER 2020. The conference was held online with the help of video communication systems, due to the current restrictions caused by the coronavirus infection COVID-19. Totally nearly 90 oral presentations were given during two days of this intensive scientific event, and over 350 check-ins were registered in the conference online sessions. Many participants shared their positive opinions that the conference was very successful despite the limitations caused by the epidemiological situation.The Proceedings consists of accepted papers that are categorized under five topics, namely:1) Nuclear and Thermal Power Engineering,2) Modern Ecological Technologies. Waste Management,3) Technogenic and Environmental Risks. Radiation Safety,4) Biotesting and Bioindication of the Environment,5) Ecological and Pharmaceutical Chemistry,6) Effects of Non-Ionizing and Ionizing Radiation: Ecological Issues.The conference organizers would like to thank all the participants who showed interest in the conference topics, sent their materials and gave their presentations at the conference, despite the unusual format of the event. The positive experience of online meetings will be widely adapted in the coming years, thus attracting participants from all over the world in the future.We sincerely hope THER-2020 Conference would provide a good opportunity to share experiences and ideas as well as to establish new academic collaborations among participants leading to exchange program and joint research and publication for the benefit of all.List of Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, International Program Committee and Keynote Speakers are available in this pdf.
