Preface

Abstract

This chapter presents the proceedings of the 8th International Congress of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science. The Congress was held at Moscow University, USSR, from August 17 to August 22, 1987, under the auspices of the Division of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science of the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science. The Congress was sponsored by the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. It was organized by its Local Organizing Committee in close cooperation with its Program Committee and the Executive Committee of the Division of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science. The sections of the Congress includes foundations of mathematical reasoning, model theory, foundations of computing and recursion theory, set theory, general logic, and general methodology of science.
