Abstract
This issue of the IBM Systems Journal is devoted to papers that present the implementation and design considerations for IBM'S most recent data base offering, IBM Database 2. In addition to implementing the relational data model in the MVS and MVS/XA environments, this system provides significantly enhanced query facilities, as well as complete support for access from other subsystems such as IMS/VS, CICS/VS, TSO, and batch programs.
