Abstract

The 5th International Conference on Science and Sustainable Development (ICSSD 2021) was held between 11th and 13th August, 2021 with the theme “Advances in Science and Technology for Sustainable Development: Solution to the 21st Century Challenges”. The meeting was an hybrid (onsite and online) event which enabled those been held by travel restrictions to join virtually via ZOOM while those that could travel were able to participate physically. The ICSSD is an annual meeting since 2017 which was inaugurated in order to run in line with the SDG goals. The Conference was organized by the Department of Physics in conjunction with the Department of Estate Management, Covenant University. The venue for the Conference (onsite) was Covenant University Centre for Research Innovation and Discovery, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria.Prof. Muhammad Saleem, Department of Physics, Bellarmine University, United State of America was the Keynote Speaker while Prof. Elijah Adebowale Ayolabi, Vice-Chancellor, Mountain Top University delivered the Lead Speech. The Guest Speakers were Prof. Kenneth Chukwudi Eze, Department of Radiology, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and Prof. Victoria Amietsenwu Bello, Department of Estate Management, Federal University of Technology, Akure. The Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Prof. Abiodun Humphrey Adebayo, delivered an insightful lecture on the impact of Science and Technology in 21st century during the opening ceremony. The Head, Department of Physics, Covenant University, Prof. Mojisola Rachael Usikalu, and the Head, Department of Estate Management, Covenant University, Prof. Mayowa Olusola Ajibola gave their welcome addresses on Day 1 and Day 2 of the event, respectively. The goodwill message was also delivered by the Chair ICSSD 2021, Dr. Maxwell Omeje. There were plenary sessions on Day 2 and Day 3, followed by discussion and interactions by speakers and attendees. We had three parallel sessions on Day 1 afternoon, Day 2 morning and Day 2 afternoon at each technical session. There was a closing ceremony on Day 3. Authors/presenters onsite and online were given 10 minutes for presentation each after which questions raised by other participants were answered by the presenters and other scholars also made comments on the presentation.List of Scientific Committee are available in this pdf.
