Abstract

Preface: The 5th International Conference on Mechanical Engineering Research (ICMER 2019) The present proceedings contain selected papers from the 5th International Conference on Mechanical Engineering Research, ICMER 2019, which took place in Vistana Hotel, in the city of Kuantan in Malaysia, July 30-31, 2019. The conference was organised by the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang.Acknowledgement should be addressed to the ICMER 2019 co-organisers namely Ningxia University, China, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia and Politeknik Lhokseumawe, Indonesia, for their huge contribution towards the success of this conference.ICMER 2019 covered numerous aspects of mechanical engineering research, in essence Combustion, Energy & Fuels, Human & Biomechanics, Thermal & Fluid Engineering, Structural Integrity & Vibration, Manufacturing System, Manufacturing Process and Computational Analysis. A total of 132 delegates from 9 countries could, besides several appreciated social events, enjoy four keynote speeches, and 117 oral presentations.The ICMER conference is held biannually in one of the venues around Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. It was first hosted in Gambang, Malaysia in 2011 after rebranded from National Conference on Mechanical Engineering Research (NCMER). Over the years the conference has evolved into a highly regarded venue for the international research community in mechanical engineering. The conference is intended as a forum where researchers and scientists from universities, research institutes and industry can present and exchange knowledge and ideas from their latest findings.The papers in these conference proceedings were selected from the conference presentations by the ICMER reviewing committee and have subsequently undergone a standard peer-review process. The organising committee wishes to express their appreciation to all the authors and delegates who made ICMER 2019 a success. The guest editor also wants to acknowledge all the reviewers.
