Abstract

The Iraqi Bulletin of Geology and Mining (IBGM) was first issued in April 2005 and published local research, mostly of the Iraq Geological Survey (State company of geological survey and mining at that time) employees’ research. It was aimed at encouraging geologists of the survey to publish the results of the regional geological survey of Iraq, largely archived within their library. Fortunately, after 20 years, the current issue of volume 20 publishes 9 international articles from various institutes and universities, such as Baghdad, Sulaimani, Babylon, and Salahaddin universities from Iraq in addition to Federation University Australia. These articles cover several geological fields, which microfacies analysis, structure geology, seismology, groundwater, industrial geology, petrology, geochemistry, and engineering geology. The Editorial Board of the bulletin hopes that the articles published in the present issue will provide valuable and accurate information for the scientific community in general. I take the opportunity to tell you that the Editorial Board has taken action to improve the template, reference style, way of citation, website, etc. of the bulletin to be ready for the next achievement by indexing the bulletin within the SCOPUS database. It was important to include a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for each article. Being within the SCOPUS index is a significant step, where almost all the authors prefer such indexed journals.
