Abstract

Tackling climate change has attracted many built environment researchers devoted to reducing environmental problems in dangerous ways. The phenomenon contributes to the cause of extreme weather events worldwide, posing an immediate risk to human survival, especially in urban areas. This situation has challenged designers and urban planners to carry out studies. The results need to be elaborated and enriched to a broader practicality and community participation level. As a response, many efforts addressed minimised threats posed by climate change. The UN launched Sustainable Urban Agenda in 2015, including Goals 6 of The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to reduce the impact of climate change on cities and urban areas. The agenda is signed by countries worldwide committed to climate change mitigation and limiting the increase of global average temperatures.Architecture needs to enable its roles to mitigate climate change, lower urban heat islands, reduce carbon emissions, and preserve biodiversity and favourable human habitation. Humans as users and actors, nature as a context and resources, and technology as means of realising objectives must be synchronised and synergised in creating a sustainable built environment. All elements and stakeholders should play their roles by strengthening partnerships with long-standing collaboration and cooperation. Having all in the same plate will ensure the health and safety of the user and the environment. The conference theme is “Sustainable Built Environment: Bridging the role of Human, Nature, and Technology.” Issues like sustainable cities, sustainable building and settlement, sustainable building and technology, theory of sustainability and historiography of architecture, and sustainable architectural design and practice are among essential topics related to the role of humans, nature, and technology. The conference acts as a reminder to all of us to contribute our knowledge and expertise, bringing humans, nature, and technology development to a better world.List of Organising Committee, Scientific Committee, Organizing Committee are available in this pdf.
