Shortly after, his family moved to California, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry with specialization in Earth Science at the University of California (San Diego) in 1974, and his MSc and PhD from Berkeley in 1976 and 1980, respectively. He started his academic career at the University of Saskatchewan in 1982 and eventually moved to Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario) in 1995. Kurt has received numerous academic honors, including a Killam Research Fellowship, Willet G. Miller Medal, Royal Society of Canada, and the E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship. He is...
