Abstract

The 2023 3rd International Conference on Energy, Power and Advanced Thermodynamic Systems (EPATS 2023) supported by Tunku Abdul Rahman University and Zhengzhou University is motivated to bridge the scientists, experts, practitioners, and students in the scientific forum through sharing ideas and issues about theoretical and practical knowledge in energy, power and advanced thermodynamic systems.This Conference took place via hybrid form June 30th to July 2nd, 2023 in Dali, China, bringing together more than 100 attendees worldwide. As an annual conference, it’s held in China every year starting from 2021, attracting more than 300 attendees from over 15 countries all around the world. With strong organization team, dependable reputation and wide sponsors globally, EPATS 2023 was even more successful than previous ones.The keynote speeches were provided especially to show the contribution of scholars and experts around the world of energy, power and advanced thermodynamic systems towards research and knowledge sharing. We had four keynote speakers coming mainly from University of Southern Denmark (Denmark), Sun Yat-sen University (China), University of Sharjah (UAE), and University of California (USA). Professor Yun Wang from University of California, USA shared his study Fundamentals, Materials, and Machine Learning of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell Technology. In this speech, he presented the status of PEM fuel cell development and discussed multiphysics and data-driven modeling approaches for PEM fuel cell design that are actively developed at the UC Irvine. Some fundamental and material aspects critical to fuel cell development were discussed. Besides, examples of material design and operational condition using physical models, machine learning, and genetic algorithms (GA) were presented and explained in detail.The Proceedings of EPATS 2023 involved about 80 papers from various topics including Energy Storage Technology, Distributed Power, Intelligent Substation, Thermophysics and Thermal Engineering, Thermal Fluid Mechanics, etc. The selected papers were checked through a rigorous peer review process, and are published in the present conference proceedings. Reviews were conducted by expert referees to the professional and scientific standards expected of Journal of Physics: Conference Series.We would like to thank the organizing committee and the members of reviewers for their kind assistance in reviewing the papers. We would also extend our best gratitude to keynote speakers for their invaluable contribution and worthwhile ideas shared in the Conference.
