Abstract
2020 International Workshop on Green Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development(G2ESD2020) was held in Weihai, China, as a video conference from August 28th to 30th, which is organized by China University of Petroleum. The purpose of the conference is to provide a platform for environmental engineers and researchers to present their works and to share experiences and ideas in green energy and environmental engineering with scholars and experts from around the world.With the aggravation of environmental deterioration and energy contradictions, environmental protection and sustainable development are constantly given increasing attention by the international community. Consequently, the researches associated with environmental protection and green energy are devoted with more focus from academia, industries, governments, and regulatory entities. Under this background, academic exchanges have sprung up, and G2ESD2020 conference is among them.The spread of the COVID-2019 epidemic in 2019 and 2020 has enveloped the whole world in dark clouds, bringing great threats and challenges to economic development, cultural exchanges, and even people’s lives and health. Governments around the world have taken various measures, such as traffic restrictions, social distance, and mask requirement to limit the spread of the virus to ensure health. As the G2ESD conference organizer, promoting academic development exchange and sharing of results is indeed important, but the life and health of participants should be the first consideration. Actually, the exchange of academic results and ensuring health can also be achieved through the postponement of the conference. However, COVID-2019 epidemic global dissemination will not be terminated in a short term. So we had to change the original offline meeting into online forms.Although the meeting mode has changed, with the help of advanced network technology, G2ESD2020 has also achieved “face-to-face” communication. Even if the participants in different regions have the limitation of time difference, the enthusiasm of many participants is still active.With the support of “Tencent cloud conference platform”, the conference consists of two parts: parallel session and question & answer. Each participant will present his academic achievements in the form of an oral presentation. After the report is finished, the remaining participants, with the help of the President of the conference, can ask the speaker questions, and any technical and applied questions can be freely exchanged to achieve problem inquiry and result sharing through mutual communication. The conference received 91 contributions, including full papers and abstracts, and after peer review by members of the technical committee, 51 were accepted and published by IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science. Over 30 contributors and listeners from Cameroon, Yemen, Jordan, Hong Kong, and Chinese mainland participated in online meetings to discuss environmental protection, green energy, and sustainable development. We believe that G2ESD2020 conference will bring profound academic enlightenment and encouragement to the participants and help them explore the thorny academic future.Although the epidemic is difficult for this conference and the people all around the world, it can not stop our academic exploration. We thank the conference organizers, technical committee members, and all contributors for their selfless dedication and valuable time for the organization and review for this conference. At the same time, we also thank IOP Publishing for the publication of the collection and the dissemination of results. We hope the scholars interested in green energy, environmental protection and sustainable development can continue to support G2ESD 2021.G2ESD Committees
