Abstract

Welcome to 2nd Maritime Safety International Conference (MASTIC) 2020, which was held on July 18, 2020. The 2nd Maritime Safety International Conference (MASTIC) 2020 was planned to be held in Bali. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to hold webinar conference. MASTIC is biennial conference, and this is the second international conference organized by Department of Marine Engineering, Faculty of Marine Technology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya collaborated with The Center of Excellence for Maritime Safety and Marine Installation (PUI KEKAL).On behalf of MASTIC committee, I would like to extend gratitude to all the authors who contribute in the submission of the result of their latest research. The committee of MASTIC received 145 submissions. From those submissions, there were 78 papers that were presented in MASTIC 2020. Also, I would like to express my grateful to the Technical Program Committee and the reviewers for their support in the reviewing process to keep the quality of manuscripts. The committee received submission from 7 countries, they are Japan, Malaysia, Germany, Indonesia, South Korea, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom. With the theme of “Responding to Future’s Technological Challenges and Opportunities in Maritime Towards Safety Operation at Sea and Environmental Protection”, MASTIC 2020 becomes a great opportunity for researchers, students and practitioners to participate in exchanging information and experiences to keep up to date the research, technology development and innovation related to the maritime safety. There are three prominent keynotes speakers to whom I would like to say thank for their support to MASTIC 2020, they are:1. Prof. Dr. Adi Maimun, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia2. Prof. Dr. Serdar Kum, Istanbul Technical University, Turkey3. Prof. Dr. Ketut Buda Artana, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), IndonesiaThe three keynote speakers delivered the research about implementation of Automatic Identification System (AIS) in their own countries. It was very important topic since AIS research has been much developed in recent years to enhance and improve the safety in marine field. We would also appreciate for the IOP conference publisher so that we could make an agreement to publish the MASTIC proceeding to the IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science (EES). I also would like to deliver warmest greeting for our collages, partnership universities, industry and government institutions.Once again, thank you for your support, I wish that the aims of MASTIC 2020 still can be achieved and gives great benefits for all of authors though we could not conduct the conference as usual. I also hope that the MASTIC 2020 proceeding can be useful for the readers in supporting their researches related in marine safety or marine engineering and also further contributing to develop the technology in maritime field.General Chair of MASTIC 2020Dr. Emmy PratiwiInstitut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya, IndonesiaJuly 18, 2020
