Abstract

Prefabricated, high-fusing, precious metal precision dowels, developed by the au­ thors, have a diameter and taper equal to the diameter and taper of new stand­ ardized files and reamers. An easy, timesaving method for root reinforcement which can be used by either the direct or indirect technic is introduced. The dowels are small in diameter and gain frictional resistance to displacement by their adap­ tation to the pulpal walls and by increased length of three-fourths to four-fifths the length of the root. There were no frac­ tures from shearing stress and no dis­ placement by masticatory function of 60 dowels cemented over a six-month period.
