Abstract

Background: In previous work we have shown that the miss rate for colorectal cancer (CRC) at colonoscopy (COL) is 2-6% depending on the site of CRC. However predictors of a missed CRC at COL are unknown. Aim: To identify predictors of missed CRC at COL. Methods: Using electronic data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and the Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP), we identified all individuals ≥ 20 years old, with a new diagnosis (dx) of right-sided CRC, transverse CRC, and rectal/sigmoid CRC, in the province of Ontario from 1/4/1997 to 31/3/2002.
