Abstract

This study investigated the predictive validity of the Revised Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (SBIS) relative to the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) as a criterion measure. Forty trainable mentally retarded students were administered both instruments by qualified examiners. Regression analyses were conducted in which scores on the separate measures provided by subtests on Reading, Spelling, and Arithmetic of the WRAT were regressed on SBIS IQs. The results indicated that the SBIS IQs yielded statistically valid predictions of WRAT standard scores for the sample studied. Derived regression equations are reported.
