Abstract

This paper deals with the energy saving strategy of the electric motor used in electric vehicle (EV). In this work, an induction motor (IM) driven battery operated electric vehicle (BEV) is considered. To overcome the problem of torque ripple in conventional DTC, the predictive torque control (PTC) is implemented. The speed response and torque ripple of the motor are analysed for various operating modes of the vehicle. Both DTC and PTC control techniques are simulated to study its behaviour. A comparison is also made tojustify the achievement of objectives through PTC than with the conventional DTC technique. The effectiveness of the algorithm is also verified through DSP-based harware platform.
