Abstract

Objective To discuss the predictive effect of Norton scale on the pressure ulcer from neurology patients. Methods Totals of 6 454 hospitalized patients in Neurology Department were screened and estimated constantly by Norton scale, the targeted prevention measure were implemented on patients with positive, and the situation of patients with pressure ulcer was observed and predictive value at different threshold was calculated,ROC curve was obtained and the area below curve was calculated. Results The sensitivity was 92.59%,specificity was 84.10%,the positive prediction value was 2.20% and the negative prediction value was 99.96%,the area below ROC curve was lager than 0.9 when threshold was 14.Conclusions Norton scale have a good predictive effect of the pressure ulcer on patients in Neurology departments, and it could be applied uniformly to screen hospitalized patients at high-risk pressure sores.
