Abstract

ABSTRACT A method is proposed to obtain the theoretical traction characteristics for a tractor as a function of its engine performance, total transmission gear ratio, dimensional parameters, and drawbar performance on concrete for two gears. Tractors with and without front-wheel assist were used. The method can be used as a substitute for normalized tests, exhibiting deviations smaller than 2% for values of the drawbar power and traction relative to test results. The method has the advantage of allowing the simulation at part throttle, and the accuracy would not be affected if tests were conducted in one gear only.
