Abstract
A simulation model predicting the heat release rate of a transient free spray flame which was proposed in the previous paper was improved : (1) the break up and evaporation delay was introduced ; (2) the definition of flame region was changed; and (3) the turbulent energy dissipation model was assumed for the combustion after the end of fuel injection. And it was confirmed that the improved model could successfully simulate the rate of heat release of a diesel flame in the quiescent chamber of a rapid compression machine.
