Abstract

We study the influence of protective aluminum and aluminum-oxide coatings on the value of the limiting point of hydrogen sulfide cracking for carbon steel. A model for describing the decrease in tensile strength of specimens under the action of a hydrogen sulfide environment is suggested. We propose a method that enables one to predict the efficiency of carbon steels protected by aluminum or aluminum-oxide coatings under hydrogen sulfide cracking.
