Abstract

A graphical method is used to find out the viscosity at any temperature between the melting temperature and glass transition temperature, which in turn is used to predict the temperature corresponding to the maximum in homogeneous nucleation rate. The present approach does not need any critical experimental data and the model predictions are very close to those experimentally measured in known metallic glasses. This model can be applied for both pure metals and glass forming alloys.
