Abstract
A physical method to predict the hand of woven fabrics is introduced. Fourteen physical parameters which can be objectively measured were combined to calculate a hand value for a fabric in conjunction with a graph of logarithmic values of the 14 hand parameters. A practical mill application of this method is suggested as a regular quality control process.
