Prediction of eutectics and phase separation in the glass formation range using a thermodynamic method

Abstract

How to prevent glass devitrification is an interesting topic for glass researchers. Our research method is based on the derivation of the eutectic from the viewpoint of the physical chemistry of a regular solution. The method was applied to silicate, disilicate, borate, borosilicate and other special glass systems. The calculated data are very close to the data from phase diagrams and those obtained by DTA. The range of immiscibility when a third component is added into a binary immiscible system and the space model of the immiscibility region of some lanthanum crown optical glass systems were also calculated.
