Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper describes a method that predicts the minimum amount of enrichment of a hydrocarbon gas with intermediate weight hydrocarbons necessary to achieve a miscible fluid displacement in the reservoir. The method is based on the work of Benham, et.al1 and is an application of their description of the multiple-contact displacement process. The technique requires that compositional analyses are available for the hydrocarbon gas, intermediate weight hydrocarbons, and the reservoir fluid. In addition, a phase behavior simulator must be available to generate the foundation of the method, a pseudo-ternary phase diagram. The method has been used with two light crudes and two intermediate weight hydrocarbon mixtures, and has compared very favorably with laboratory slim tube tests.
