Abstract
Abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and loss of fetal heart rate variability do not accurately predict fetal distress in more than 50 per cent of cases. The author examines the value of correlating fetal heart rate data and fetal capillary blood acid-base values in order to more specifically predict the fetal condition
