Abstract

A numerical treatment for determining the particle velocity and the trajectories in a two-phase flow is described herein and this new fluctuation-spectrum-random-trajectory (FSRT) model is proposed to account for the turbulent diffusion of particles. It is predicted for the flow of a turbulent axisymmetric gaseous jet laden with spherical solid particles of nonuniform size. The particle velocity and the concentration field are obtained by the revised volume average method. The predictions are compared with experiment.
