Abstract

Aim: Recently, the literature has suggested an air leak of ≤20 mL/minute or less for six consecutive hours as the safe zone for removal of intercostal catheters (ICC) following thoracic surgery. We sought to describe the patients that had an unexpected air leak after the safe zone and what factors may predict an unexpected air leak.
