Abstract

Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) air pump is receiving increasing attentions in areas of flow control and thermal management. Numerical method is an effective tool in EHD pump design. In order to ensure simulation accuracy, this study utilized the experimental results from literature to validate numerical model. The results show that standard k-ε models could provide reasonable results. Based on the validated numerical model and methodology from literature, the pressure loss vs. air flow rate curves were obtained and utilized to evaluate different EHD pump configurations and structural parameters. The numerical strategies recommended in this study could be used in engineering design.
