Abstract

In recent years, fiber-based sound-absorbing materials have been widely used in automobiles and other transportation equipment to improve user comfort and reduce environmental noise. The widespread use of hybrid and electric vehicles has also made wind and road noise, which were previously less noticeable due to engine noise, more noticeable. Therefore, the demand for improved quietness has led to the development of sound-absorbing materials with higher sound-absorbing performance. However, the microstructure of fiber materials is difficult to control and This results in variations in sound absorption characteristics. In this study, the variation of fiber-based sound absorbers was predicted using the perturbation method and compared with the measured values. The homogenization method was used to calculate the sound absorption coefficient from the microstructure model.
