Abstract
Aims: Mutant INS gene-induced diabetes of youth (MIDY) in humans is caused by missense mutations of the insulin gene. The severity of the disease depends on the type of mutation. We generated transgenic pigs expressing INS C93S to complement the previously established INSC 94 Y transgenic pig model, which develops permanent neonatal diabetes mellitus (Renner et al., Diabetes 62, 1505 – 11, 2013).
