Abstract
Abstract The notion of a precompact fuzzy set in a fuzzy uniform space is defined and it is shown that this is a good extension of the standard notion. A theory of precompact fuzzy sets is developed using the previously defined notion of a Cauchy prefilter in a fuzzy uniform space and this theory generalises standard theory.
