Abstract
E auto-injectors are recommended for anaphylaxis treatment in the community, however, they are under-utilized when anaphylaxis occurs. We developed new-generation sublingual (SL) E tablets as a potential alternative dosage form (J Allergy Clin Immunol 2006;117:398-403). The new-generation tablets, manufactured by direct compression without moisture or heat, release E within 60 seconds in vitro and have complete masking of the intrinsic bitter taste of E (Eur J Pharm Biopharm 2012 [Epub ahead of print]).
