Abstract

Precision measurements in nuclear beta decay provide sensitive tools to test the Lorentz structure of the weak interaction in semi-leptonic decays and allow also the determination of fundamental couplings in processes involving the lightest quarks. The main motivation of such measurements is to find deviations from Standard Model predictions as possible indications of new physics. I review here the status of selected precision measurements of correlation observables in nuclear and neutron beta decay and discuss future prospects and plans.
