Abstract

The elastic-plastic analysis for a cracked plate with finite dimensions is one of the most difficult fields of Elastic-Plastic Fracture Mechanics. In this paper, the improved near crack line field analysis method has been used to analyse a mode III center cracked plate with finite dimensions loaded by a pair of antiplane point forces P at the center of the crack surface in an elastic-perfectly plastic material. The assumptions of small scale yielding have been abandoned. By matching the general solutions of the plastic field with the reasonable elastic field at the elastic-plastic boundary, analytical solutions of the near crack line elastic-plastic fields, the size of the plastic zone and the unit normal vector of the elastic-plastic boundary, which are sufficiently precise near the crack line, have been obtained. Through analysing, critical loading of the point force can be given. It is worth noting that the numbers in the critical condition are just according to the number's golden section.
