Abstract

Independent empirical information on the properties of nuclear wave functions at large radii improves the precision of radii deduced from elastic electron scattering by a factor of 3. Using these radii to predict measured muonic atoms transition energies allows a more stringent test of the QED vacuum polarization effect.
