Abstract

The average total kinetic energy of fragments in the fission of 235U by neutrons of energies ranging from 200 to 900 keV has been measured using two solid-state detectors to detect the the fission fragments in coincidence. The average total kinetic energy of fragments is independent of the incident neutron energy and, within experimental error, does not show the reported discontinuity around 300 keV neutron energy.
