Abstract

A new vector voltmeter concept for microwave reflection measurements is presented. It allows precise online determination of the reflection coefficient for continuous wave (CW) and pulsed signals in microwave heating facilities. All components—including the directional coupler—can be integrated on printed circuits. In the setup developed, the incident and reflected wave are separated with a hybrid coupler Two following mixer stages convert the signals from 2.45 GHz to 455 kHz, where amplitude and phase detection are carried out with integrated circuits. After data transfer to a computer the accuracy is improved by means of an error model.
