Abstract

Recently the problem of embrittlement in pressure vessel steels has interested fundamental as well as applied nuclear research; embrittlement processes are not well understood yet, and for comprehension a better analysis of the tiny and various precipitates encountered in these steels, and a study of precipitation kinetics are necessary. In this paper which is part of an extensive study the authors planned to observe precipitation processes in model alloys by different techniques (EXAFS, SANS, TEM...). Present investigation deals with the behavior of copper in dilute FeCu and FeCuMn alloys during irradiation in the 170{degrees}C-400{degrees}C temperature range, using electrical resistivity measurements, completed by TEM observations.
