Abstract
The paper aims to study the heterogeneity of the middle classes in the new Russia. Drawing from the monitoring survey data collected by the Institute of Sociology of FCTAS RAS, 2015 and 2018, the author employed Bayesian latent class analysis to detect Russian middle class and its main subgroups. In 2015 and 2018 it counted 58% and 61% of the population, respectively. Precarization of the middle is occurring in the lower stratum of the middle class, which comprises up to half of the middle class. Дискуссии о судьбе среднего класса в России неизбежно преломляются через дискурс в зарубежной науке [Авраамова, 2018; Колбановский, 2013]. Что сам тезис об обеднении среднего класса представляется оксюмороном, поскольку средний класс не может быть бедным по определению – в силу своего промежуточного и срединного положения в обществе. Наиболее наглядно тезис об обеднении среднего класса доказывается в исследованиях, которые выделяют средний класс по экономическим критериям. Что она проявляется и при композитном, или так называемом социологическом, измерении среднего класса, когда за основу принадлежности к среднему классу берётся не только доход, но и ряд немонетарных показателей, в том числе те из них, о которых писал Ч. Негативный оттенок этого понятия связан с тем, что даже качественный человеческий капитал перестаёт быть гарантией получения хорошего рабочего места. Большинству населения, даже выходцам из среднего класса, осуществлять такие инвестиции становится всё сложнее. Разрастание прекаризации с низших слоёв рабочего класса до среднего класса является совершенно новым явлением, требующим отдельного изучения
