Abstract

The parameters measured in the standard semen analysis may be insufficient for exact differentiation between fertile and infertile men. In that context, determining the apoptotic cells may be an alternative to predict treatment success. Neverthless, apoptotic cells can be determined by Annexin V molecule which has a calcium-dependent binding to phosphatidylserine that have appeared on the cell surface. We assume that the high rate of apoptotic sperm in ejaculate may play a role on the etiology of unexplained infertility.
