Abstract

The use of chemical desiccation is rapidly becoming standard practice as a harvest aid in the cultivation of a number of important oilseed crops. Main advantages are that harvesting can be more closely timed, and can be carried out more quickly without the previously substantial risk of losses associated with under-ripeness or over-ripeness of the crop. Additionally, seed is of better quality and advancement of the harvesting date allows more time to prepare land for the following crop.
