Abstract

This research had the purpose of knowing and interpreting the environmental practices that are carried out in the Summerhill School educational institution and how they contribute to the formation of political subjects within the framework of academic reflection, through the knowledge and experiences of students and teachers of the institution. In the first instance, the pertinent conceptual review was generated to situate the concept of environmental education, political subject and subjectivity focusing on the main categories of research; likewise generating the theoretical review that includes a historical, social and political description of the formation of the political subject through critical environmental education, the methodological approach focused on a qualitative model under an interpretative paradigm that is interested in collecting positions from the techniques of structured interviews and a focus group to understand the theoretical and epistemological aspects of environmental education practices that are carried out at the Summerhill School educational institution, taking it as a case study of said population. The foregoing, so that it is possible to understand the environmental education practices that, in the midst of academic reflection, contribute to the formation of political subjects in students and teachers of the Summerhill School Educational Institution. Generating as a conclusion of the research that both students and teachers understand the importance of environmental education as an influential formative agent in the formation of a political, historical, social and cultural subject with a critical environmental awareness willing to understand the problems that the world currently faces. after environmental changes and how the practices that arise from the school, social and family environment can influence to generate a change in favor of the environment.
