Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the PRBS- determined temporal frequency characteristics (TFC) of the VEP are valid and useful in evaluating the properties of the visual system of glaucomatous patients TFCs of VEP were measured from 15 normal eyes and 31 eyes with primary open angle or low-tension glaucoma. Glaucomatous eyes were divided into 3 groups according to their visual field defect. The mean TFC values at 4-8, 14-20 and 26-30 Hz were statistically different in normal and three glaucoma groups (ANOVA, P<0.05). With the progression of glaucoma, part of the TFC values were selectively depressed and later almost all values were depressed significantly. This correlation between the TFCs and the glaucomatous changes indicates that the PRBS- determined TFC is useful for evaluating glaucomatous eyes.
