Abstract

Many cancer patients are frequently using CAM although they rarely talk about it with their doctors or caregivers. Most of the times, people using these therapies are not aware of the risks that they may encounter. On the contrary, certain CAM have been, in oncological supportive care, of benefit on symptoms or secondary effects of specific treatments (i.e using acupuncture for chemotherapy induced nausea, or hypnosis during interventional medical act).Because natural doesn’t mean without any danger, care givers have to be informed and trained on CAM to be able to answer to the patient’s questions. This is essential in order that physicians remain the most reliable and accessible information source.
