Abstract

This chapter concentrates on the scholars’ socio-emotional intelligence from a personal perspective as it is clear that learning about socio-emotional intelligence and how to develop it has a positive impact on every aspect of their lives. Based on the notion that this is an area that up until recently has been under-researched from the point of view of academics and their wellbeing, the chapter includes research-evidenced ideas related to developing specific areas of socio-emotional intelligence such as self-esteem and resilience, amongst others. Exploring important aspects such as self-care, the importance of genuineness and the impact that humour can have holistically, the chapter aims to spark the scholars’ curiosity to continue learning, reflecting and developing their socio-emotional intelligence for their own wellbeing.
