Abstract

Szabo et al 1 Szabo RM Slater Jr, RR Farver TB Stanton DB Sharman WK The value of diagnostic testing in carpal tunnel syndrome. J Hand Surg. 1999; 24A: 704-714 Crossref Google Scholar compared the sensitivity of several clinical tests (Semmes-Weinstein, Durken's, and Phalen's tests, hand diagram, and symptom history) with the sensitivity of electrodiagnostic testing in diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). They conclude that “…the addition of the electrodiagnostic tests did not increase the diagnostic power of the combination of the 4 clinical tests” and that “the addition of nerve conduction studies is unnecessary in most cases.”
