Abstract

The United International College Environment and Development Center has integrated tiyan shi (experiential-learning), jingyan (empirical-learning), and fuwu xuexi (service-learning) methodology in college and university environmental education, brought the nongovernmental organizations' participatory work ideas and approaches into college and university environmental education, and devised a unique model of participatory environmental education. This innovative and useful venture overturns the traditional model of education. Although it has made substantial progress, it may still need many improvements. In sharing this model and its specific applications, this paper analyzes and sums up its experiences and achievements and offers its difficulties and challenges for reference in the hope that criticisms and questions will be raised for effecting improvements.
