Abstract

Objective To analyze and evaluate the final examination papers on Pediatrics in our 2012 grade undergraduates specializing in clinical medicine. Find out the teaching problems and bring forward some countermeasures to improve the effects and qualities of pediatric teaching. Methods Excel 2007 and SPSS 19.0 were used to analyze the examination paper and score of Pediatrics for 115 students. Results The distribution of the scores shows skew distribution, with the mean score being 63.7, the standard deviation 13.1, and the paper reliability was 0.87. The degree of difficulty (P value) of single-choice question, noun explanation, short-answer, question and clinical case analysis was 0.71, 0.53, 0.58 and 0.56, respectively. The discrimination of single-choice question, noun explanation, short-answer, question and clinical case analysis was 0.28, 0.36, 0.40 and 0.36, respectively. Conclusions The results show that the examination paper was reliable with comprehensive test items, moderate difficulty and reasonable score distribution. The analysis was helpful to assess the fairness of the exam and revealed some problems of the students and teaching. It provides some experience on how to upgrade the level of test paper preparation and helps to trigger the reflection of teaching workers. What is more, it plays a great role in improving the teaching quality. Key words: Pediatrics; Examination paper analysis; Score analysis; Teaching evaluation
